I am moving the designer and server to a new machine. I have moved the backup files and downloaded the designer and server. I have also setup the server and all things are ready to go except that when I request a license it sends me a temporary 10 day license with 2 cores. I have made sure that I did not download the advanced server.
I recently purchased a 1 core 4.1 license server and need a permanent license for the new machine which I have upgraded to 5.0. Where do I go or How do I request the permanent license for 5.0?
I have checked the manual on backing up and restoring the server and I tried requesting through client management on licenser which only wants to give me a temporary license.

You don't need a new license. You should use the existing 4.1 license with 5.0 server

Thanks,
The 4.1 license shows inactive because it is still on the other machine. Any way to test prior to removing the license from the other machine? I would hate to find something wrong after deleting it.
Also would there need to be any changes to client devices after the move or will they be able to connect right away. The computer ip will change but not the static ip that clients need to connect.

You said you've got a temporary license. Use it for now.
Clients are searching server via the path which you've used when deploying to server. As long as your new server responds at the same URL and as long as you are using the same database file which was used by the time of deployment you should be fine.

Thanks. Temp license shows registered but not acquired. When trying to acquire nothing happens.
Licenser server shows temp license assigned. Client Management shows assigned. Client monitor shows no running client.
Checked to ensure server is running with success.
Forwarded static ip but cannot connect.
Client shows license invalid, contact admin.
Error log shows no available license or product assigned and communication problem with licenser.

Once again, you will need to provide a lot of details about your environment to find out why your server doesn't get the license. Contact Altova Support for this kind of question, unless you are ready to expose all your server details here.

What is it that would require one computer to want a 2 core license and the other a 1 core license?
Original computer running x64 Windows 7 works fine with purchased 1 core license. New computer with x64 Windows 8.1 is asking for a 2 core license. (I reloaded the server to ensure I hadn't downloaded the advanced server which requires a 2 Core License)
New computer runs purchased 4.1 1 core license fine if I check the limit to single thread box but then only one client can use the server at a time.
Is this telling me that I can only use the new computer with the same server I've been using for the last 3 years by spending another $1000 to get a 2 Core License?
I would appreciate a complete response to both questions so that I can determine if I need to abort the whole process.
Thanks,

You can still use the 1 core license if you use a VM. Not sure why Windows 7 could have ever worked out of the box. I can only guess that you've in fact configured a VM 3 years ago and forgot it.
Everything is described in documentation

Windows 7 have been working for the last three years.
Can you be more specific and point to where in the documentation?
Thanks,

I need to do a backup so I can move to another machine. The manual shows the tab on the UI but on the actual server it is not there. Any Alternatives on how to create the backup? The most current version is installed and when I try reloading it the backup files created are removed during installation.

The built-in Backup is available in the "Advanced Edition" only. If you want to backup manually, you can simply turn off the server and copy your files. Also see " How to Backup and Restore MobileTogether Server".
