Value line charts are the appropriate representation of technical measurement curves (i.e. width, thickness) of a piece of material/product. All X/Y value-pairs share the same X-Axis range (i.e. length of the material), but number of value-pairs and X-Axis positions being individual per curve. Typically some curves, having different Y-Axes titles and value scopes, are put together in one chart to get a compact presentation. This can in general be achieved by using multi-layerd charts, but this feature is not available for value line charts. I can imaging the reason when combining different chart types (X Axis categories vs X Axis values), but for presentation of measurements it would be sufficient to have multiple layers for type "Value line chart" only.
