After I saved my project and closed the MT Designer, i cannot open the project again. If i click on the project file, all that happens is that the empty Designer pops up. The project itself has a size of 91KB and i can still see all entries if I open the file with notepad++.

This is VERY strange. Can you attach your project here for review? If you cannot share it publicly - you can send it to Altova Support https://www.altova.com/support

Did you ever edit it manually in notepad++ or any other program?

No I didn't. Just opened it in Notepad++ to have a look if the file is really empty or not.
I now contacted the support.
As a side info; even if the Designer is empty, i still can open the version of the app that i uploaded a day ago on the server with the "open from server"-function.

The support could help me.
The issue was in one of my DB transaction statements which was connected to a DB which no longer exists.

Glad to hear it has been resolved. Never heard of something like that in the past
