Hello

How can I reduce the text size (double-click) ?

When simulating MyApp deployed on Galaxy Note 3 using the on "preview device", even the smallest font is too big.
I'm trying to reduce(enter) text size via double-click without success...

Online Help : Text Size
Select a size from the dropdown list of the combo box, or double-click in the value field to enter a text size.

But I'm not able to enter a value here. Why ?

Regards,
L

PS : congratulations for this beta tool.

Your preview is too big, not because of the font size, but because it is currently set to 100%, which means 1 pixel on your device corresponds to 1 pixel on the screen, and because the pixel size on a phone like Galaxy Note 3 is much smaller than on any computer - such preview becomes that big.

Simply reduce the % zoom in the toolbar. I usually use 50% for Note 3.

You can always enter the font size, but it still can only be one of the 5 predefined values which are translated to the actual font sizes on devices then.

Thank you bbv.

The preview isn't the goal.
I was trying to change the predefined values as mentioned in the help "double-click in the value field to enter a text size" not for the preview but for the final display on the device.

If the smallest font size cannot be reduced in the designer, how is it possible to zoom (App screen) on the device (Note 3) ?
Is it a property to setup in MTD, to allow the zoom on my Note-3 ?

TIA,
L

I must admit, we were very surprised by this request. Just for your understanding: Android suggests three default font sizes: "small", "medium", "large". We thought this would be too less of choice and have added one which is smaller than small, and larger than large. I'm also using Note 3 and when using "smallest" settings it is almost impossible to read the text.

Nevertheless, we have put on our internal to do for future releases a possibility to set a font size directly. You must understand though, that this solution is good when targeting a single device - it becomes tedios when it has to work for different devices, where you will have to calculate a font size for each.

Just as a thought - when designing tables with that amount of information you have multiple approaches:

* You can use more than one row per element to show all fields.
* You can show the most important fields and use a sub page to show everything at once for one row, nicely rendered
* You can allow user to choose what he sees, by providing some setting above the table and using column visibility XPath

TX bbv,

My goal was to see a maximum info on the first page (in portrait mode).
Setting all the controls to "smallest" is now ok for me.
No problem to read it ;-)

About the zoom, is it (not) available (Z+ and Z-) ?

Regards,
L

No, zoom is not easily possible. In contrary to browsers, we are using native controls to build pages to achieve native look on each device. And native controls do not have zooming feature
